Cuddle Bear Drive Benefits RAMC’s Littlest Patients

As a parent, Keely Bauer knows that a surgery or an ER visit can be a traumatic event for a child.

Recently, Keely, along with her 8 year old daughter Maya decided to hold a "Cuddle Bear Book & Plush Drive" in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, to raise awareness about pediatric cancer and to donate books and bears to children fighting illness or in traumatic situations.

Keely is an Independent Consultant with Usborne Books & More and was pleased to find they donate a portion of the proceeds from the Cuddle Bear Book & Plush sets to the Scott Carter Foundation, which raises money to fund pediatric cancer research (www.scottcarterfoundation.org/). Additionally, Keely was able to take advantage of Usborne’s 50% matching grant to purchase additional Cuddle Bear Book & Plush sets to donate to children. With permission from her sponsors, several were donated to children she personally knew fighting cancer. The rest of the books and bears were donated to Reedsburg Areacuddle bear Medical Center to be given to children in all areas of the hospital, including the Surgery Center, Inpatient Unit, Emergency Room and more. Maya and Keely’s hope is that the books and bears are able to provide some distraction and comfort to children facing these difficult situations. For more information, please visit keelysbooksandmore.com  or send an email to keelysbooksandmore@gmail.com
