At Reedsburg Area Medical Center, we are committed to providing high-quality, safe, and satisfying care for expectant mothers. Our skilled and experienced family practice providers, Midwives and nurses and Birth Center team support women’s autonomy throughout pregnancy and childbirth by offering a full range of labor and delivery options tailored to meet your family’s cultural needs and preferences.

Your Obstetrics Team!

Reedsburg Area Medical Center is proud to offer a team-based model for obstetrics delivery!  This means our compassionate and skilled obstetrics team shares your birth plan to provide personalized, top-notch care for the delivery of your baby!

You choose a primary OB provider who will be your main provider as you progress through your pregnancy. When you arrive to deliver your baby, the on-call member of the provider team will care for you. This provider will work with our Birth Center team to navigate your unique needs and provide safe and compassionate care.

Labor Support for Expectant Mothers

We believe that every pregnancy and childbirth journey is unique and special. Our team is dedicated to ensuring each woman feels empowered and supported throughout labor and delivery. We strongly encourage you to actively participate in planning for your baby’s birth. Attending all prenatal appointments, participating in your Pre-Birth Conference, and taking Prepared Childbirth classes are excellent ways to address questions and concerns. Our Birth Center nurses are always available, day or night, to support you during pregnancy, labor, and the postpartum period.

Personalized Labor and Delivery Options

At Reedsburg Area Medical Center, we recognize the importance of personalized care during labor and delivery. We offer a variety of options to help you achieve the labor and delivery experience you desire. Here are some of the labor choices available to you:

Aromatherapy
Essential oils are known for their relaxing and calming benefits. We offer a selection of essential oils and diffusers for use in our Birth Center to create a soothing environment during labor.

Birthing Balls
We provide a variety of birthing balls in different shapes and sizes to aid in comfort and positioning during labor. These tools can help women find relief and effective positions to support the birthing process.

Large Soaking Tubs
Warm water is an excellent way to relax both during labor and after delivery. Our large soaking tubs promote relaxation and can be used even if a complete water birth is not preferred.

Music and Entertainment
Each Birth Center room is equipped with a radio, CD player, TV, and DVD player. We also offer a collection of relaxing music CDs to help create a calming atmosphere.

Movement and Various Positions
Uncomplicated pregnancies and labors permit walking around our beautiful campus as a great activity. Our nurses, trained in various labor positions, will guide you through options such as standing, rocking, kneeling, and squatting.

Water Birth
For women with uncomplicated pregnancies and labors, water birth is an option that provides soothing and pain-relieving benefits. Discuss with your healthcare provider to determine if water birth is the right choice for you.

Pain Relief Options
We offer several pain relief options to meet your needs and preferences:

  • Epidural: For longer-term pain relief during labor.
  • Nitrous Oxide: A mobile pain control option allowing you to move out of bed.
  • IV Pain Medication: To help “take the edge off” labor pain.

Wireless Fetal Monitor (Novii)
For women who need continuous fetal monitoring during labor, the Novii monitor allows for freedom of movement without being confined to a bed.

VBAC/Cesarean Delivery (C-Section)  Whether you plan to have a C-section or the need is unexpected, our surgical cesarean suite is readily available.
