Reedsburg Area Medical Center Birth Center Opens Milk Drop Off Depot

Mothers’ Milk Bank of the Western Great Lakes (Milk Bank WGL) and Reedsburg Area Medical Center have partnered to bring a new breast milk collection depot to Reedsburg. This joint effort increases access for approved donors and families in the area to donate lifesaving, critical nutrition for babies in need. The organizations welcomed the new depot with a grand opening ceremony on April 29th in the Birth Center at Reedsburg Area Medical Center.

Hannibal-LaGrange University Presents Emma Jacobson Schroeder with the Outstanding Young Alumnus Award

Hannibal-LaGrange University presented Emma Jacobson Schroeder with the Outstanding Young Alumnus Award. The Outstanding Young Alumnus Award is given to an HLGU graduate who is 35 or younger for outstanding accomplishments in their nation, state, profession, business or community.

Schroeder graduated from HLGU with her bachelor’s degree in nursing in 2017. She subsequently started as a nurse at Reedsburg Area Medical Center in Reedsburg, Wisc. Over the past six years, she demonstrated an exceptional commitment to her profession.

Jen Halvorson Presents Research Poster “Suicidality and Its Connection to Rural Healthcare Structure.”

Jen Halvorson – per diem Surg Tech currently in the UW BSN Nursing Program, was at the Midwest Nursing Research Society Conference in Minneapolis, presenting her research poster entitled, “Suicidality and Its Connection to Rural Healthcare Structure.” Jen will also present this at the UW Health Nursing Poster Fair and UW Madison Undergraduate Research Symposium at the end of April. 

Last month, she had the opportunity to speak with legislatures at the Wisconsin State Capitol for “Nurses Day at the Capitol.” UW students from Reedsburg, Marina Orlowski, Feng Wang, Jen Halvorson, and Madison College Nursing Instructor Jolan Berg, represented UW Madison School of Nursing and Reedsburg while visiting with Representative Tony Kurtz and with the staff of Senator Howard Marklein.
