RAMC Team Building

Team RAMC participated in a team-building event involving pumpkins. The creative displays by each department were second to none! They are all winners! Every month, each department sponsors a team-building activity for all to enjoy. This is just another example of one of the many reasons RAMC is the best place to work in healthcare!

RAMC Birth Center celebrates National Midwifery Week October 1-7, 2023!

The word ‘midwife’ means with woman.  Midwives are specially trained professionals who care for women from adolescence to beyond menopause.  This includes care and management during pregnancy, labor, and after birth.

We are fortunate to have an amazing midwife on staff at RAMC. Ame Fischer has been with us since 2020. She provides top-notch care to women and has delivered many, many babies.

We are excited to welcome a second midwife in 2024!  Watch for more info to come!

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and there is no better time to learn about this disease and what you can do to protect yourself. Breast cancer is the second most common form of cancer in women and can occur at any age. However, the risk increases with age, and women over 50 are more likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer than younger women. Although the overall survival rate for breast cancer has increased over the past few decades, it is still one of the leading causes of death among women.

Several factors can increase a woman’s risk of developing breast cancer, including family history, obesity, alcohol consumption, and smoking. The good news is that there are also several things you can do to reduce your risk.

Community Partnerships Keep Reach Out and Read a Part of Reedsburg Area Medical Center

RAMC has prescribed more than 15,000 books since 2014 and 1,700 in 2022 alone

MADISON, Wis. – Kris Houtler attended a Wisconsin Library Association conference in 2012. It was there that she heard Dipesh Navsaria, MPH, MSLIS, MD, present on Reach Out and Read. Houtler, then an assistant librarian at Reedsburg Public Library, was instantly inspired.
“At that moment, I knew I needed to bring Reach Out and Read to Reedsburg, but I could not do it alone,” Houtler said.

Once she returned from the conference, she connected with Joanna Laukant, MD, a family practice physician at Reedsburg Area Medical Center (RAMC), the RAMC Marketing Department, and Heidi Feller, a community activist for literacy and children.

With everyone committed to bringing ROR to Reedsburg, the committee started the process of obtaining the funding needed to purchase the first year of books, which is a requirement for becoming a Reach Out and Read site.
