Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS)
People with RLS feel an overwhelming urge to move their legs when they are at rest. They may experience tingling, creeping, itching, pulling or aching. This may be accompanied by unpleasant sensations. RLS usually occurs more often during periods of inactivity, in the evening, and during the night and can disrupt your sleep and daily life.
Some people that suffer from RLS also suffer from a condition called PLMD (periodic limb movement disorder). In PLMD people have involuntary, repeated limb jerks or twitching while they are sleeping. This repeated movement may disrupt your sleep.
If you are having trouble sleeping, call RAMC’s Sleep Medicine Clinic for an appointment 608-768-6258.
