Building a healthier community starts with building relationships, and that is exactly what Dr. Garret Tesman loves most about practicing medicine. As a Family Medicine physician at the RAMC La Valle Clinic and RAMC Physicians Group, Dr. Tesman views his role as more than just a doctor—he sees himself as a partner to his patients and their families.
Dr. Garret Tesman earned his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in 2021. He completed his residency training at Penn Medicine, Lancaster General Health in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Although his medical training and life experiences have taken him across the country, including time spent in California and Oregon, Dr. Tesman is proud to have returned to the Midwest.
When you walk into the clinic for a visit with Dr. Tesman, you can leave any “doctor’s office jitters” at the door. He prioritizes a relaxed, open conversation over a clinical checklist. He makes it a point to listen first, learning about who you are outside of what’s written in your medical chart. By understanding your personal goals and what matters most to you, he works with you to create a realistic health plan that fits your lifestyle. His goal is simple: he wants you to leave feeling heard, understood, and supported.
What truly draws Dr. Tesman to the La Valle area (where he and his family reside) is the opportunity to care for the whole person—and often the whole family. He believes that rural clinics are the heart of the community, and he finds great joy in helping his neighbors make meaningful changes that improve their long-term quality of life. There is nothing he enjoys more than celebrating a health success story with a patient he has partnered with over time. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Tesman is fully embracing the local lifestyle. Outside of his clinical work, Dr. Tesman enjoys spending time outdoors and exploring the natural beauty of the local area with his family. He is glad to call this community home.
