"As a physician, one of my main roles is to ease pain and suffering. As a psychiatrist, my primary “medicine” to accomplish this is my ability to communicate. My goal is to create an environment where you feel welcomed, heard, and encouraged to become all that you were created to be.  

In order to optimize your care, we will look at all possible contributing factors. First, as a physician, we will address any biologic factors or medical conditions and consider medications if appropriate. Next, we will address the psychological factors that are contributing to your current problem. We will also consider any social impact from friends, family, job, etc. Finally, we will look at any spiritual elements involved in your current problem. This is sometimes referred to as the bio/psycho/social/spiritual model of care.

I have found that being able to relate to my patients, as well as being able to tailor communication to a variety of learning styles, leads to the best outcomes.

I was born in rural South Dakota, completed my residency training in the big city of Honolulu, HI, and served in the Army. These are just a few examples of the life experiences I bring to each patient encounter. I look forward to working with you!
